Photos and Mirrors: Prejudice and Truth

Life is a piece of photo paper
the light makes it darker
each beam of light seeps through it
each color telling a different truth
or a different lie
poisoning it
staining it
with the story it wants to portray
conveyed through the equivalent
of one thousand words
a picture
a story
As life goes on more and more
pictures
are added to this memory paper
eventually when the world views it
when it is incapable of taking any more stories into its surface
it is black
and shows a conflict of so many stories
that it reflects darkness
into the eyes of those around them
but what if instead life was a mirror
darkness seeping out of it just like it sunk in
and when the world viewed it
it reflected the moment, the picture
of who the people really were
and life would be clear
the memory of people
would only consist of now
of how they truly were
don't hold the pictures of the world that life has given to you
don't have a pre-made story for all of the world
hold the mirror not the photo
and your mind will be clear
cleanse your inner vision
and you will see the light
I love the extended metaphor that you carry throughout your poem. The vivid details are great, and I really like the sort of meaning and significance I received at the end of the poem.
