The Paradox of Tao
Within every particle of this universe
The Tao flowsWithin every particle of this universe
In our minds and watching our lives
The Tao knows
Life without balance and peace
The Tao cannot be
We frantically sprint from place to place
Perhaps we should halt
We keep on fighting war after war
Perhaps we should talk
We always protest the order of the world
Perhaps we should agree
If it appears finished and fully flushed out
Incomplete it may be
Soldiers amass as if prepared for war
But instead bring forth aid
Maybe it appears oppressed and subdued
But it reveals itself to be free
Everything as it seems is false
But is this correct
Nothing is empty, only full of nothing
Maybe nothing is something
People are intelligent and clever
Or maybe just not dumb
I cannot explain to you what the Tao is or is not
The Tao can
I cannot teach to you what the Tao wants
The Tao guides
I cannot comprehend the Tao
The Tao only understands itself
I liked the last stanza, and the line: "The Tao only understands itself."
ReplyDeleteThe rhyme and repetition that you include makes the poem flow very well.
ReplyDeleteThe repetition of war themes and what the soldiers should do instead. It flows well and really has lots of meaning.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is meaningful because it shows how Tao can not be defined or understood completely. As a side note, the image you used really complements the war theme in your poem.
